Half Forward Line
Now we turn our attention to the forward line, and Kieran McGeeney has several attacking options available to slot into the six positions.
The selections in the half forward line offer plenty of scoring talent, work rate and play making ability.
Aidan Nugent
The Cullyhanna man made his Championship debut against Down in the first round of last year’s Ulster Championship and hasn’t looked back.
Nugent started in Armagh’s last three games against Kildare, Westmeath and Fermanagh, scoring 1-4 across the three games.
He has made his reputation as a score-getter at club level, but his hard work further out the field sees him as a strong candidate for the half forward line.

Stefan Campbell
Armagh’s new captain should have been leading his side out for the first time in the Championship this weekend.
Campbell held the number 11 jersey in the last three league games and has played every single minute of Armagh’s seven games this season.
The Clan na Gael attacker posted 1-4 across the five league matches, his goal coming in the opening round of the league against Cavan.

Jemar Hall
The Forkhill man has been around the squad for a few years now and is a serious option for Kieran McGeeney’s half forward line.
Hall was an ever present figure in the half forward line last season, starting every one of their Championship games.
His speed and work ethic are what makes him stand out and he is often found getting back and helping out his defence.

Rory Grugan
Grugan gave an impressive performance in the full forward line against Tyrone earlier in the season, hitting 1-3 after being introduced.
It’s in the half forward line that he has made his name however and he often holds the key to unlocking massed defences.
The Ballymacnab man’s tackling is an underrated feature of his game and his work rate around the middle is second to none.

Jason Duffy
One of the younger members of the Orchard County, Duffy has featured in five of Armagh’s seven games in the 2020 season.
He started against Cavan and Tyrone in the McKenna Cup as well as Cavan and Laois in the league, while being introduced during Armagh’s draw with Westmeath.
The Cullyhanna attacker is strong off both feet and his speed would have given him a good chance of earning his first Championship start.

Oisin O’Neill
Having missed Armagh’s Championship run last season through injury, O’Neill bounced back in 2020 and was one of his sides stand out performers.
Has operated in the centre of the park, but the half forward line is where the Crossmaglen man can cause most damage.
A powerful ball carrier well fit to kick a score and get up and down the field, O’Neill has all the attributes of a modern day half forward.
