How Twitter reacted to Rian O’Neill’s performance

For Armagh fans, Rian O’Neill’s heroics on Saturday evening came as no surprise.

But on the national stage, in Croke Park, against the Dubs, it seems people have begun to sit up and take notice of how good he really is.

The Crossmaglen star top scored for the Orchard County with 1-4 in a Man of the Match performance.

While many on Twitter hailed Armagh’s overall quality, it was O’Neill who got the eye most.

Paul Hearty

Paul Hearty was quick to point out that his clubmate O’Neill has been on top of his game for “a right while now”.

The former Crossmaglen shot stopper has witness the rise of O’Neill since his younger days playing with the club.

Colm Cooper

Colm Cooper knows a good forward when he sees one. He was one of the best ever to play the game and has played with plenty of stars down through the years.

The Gooch called O’Neill the ‘star of the show’ and pointed to the impact of Rory Grugan as well.

James O’Donoghue

The recently retired Kingdom sharpshooter was impressed not only with O’Neill but with Armagh’s kicking game.

O’Neill was in for a special mention however and O’Donoghue described the Armagh dangerman as “outrageous”.

Colm O’Neill

The former Cork star was a similar played to Rian O’Neill during his days with the Rebel County.

He kept it short and sweet and described O’Neill as class.

Aidan O’Mahony

The ex-Kerry defender made a name at county level for going toe-to-toe with the best forwards in the county.

But even O’Mahony mightn’t fancy going up against Rian O’Neill.

Buff Egan

O’Neill must be good if Buff Egan is tweeting about him, right? Egan tweeted twice about the Armagh full forward.

He described O’Neill as “outrageous” and a “Stallion of a Man”.
