Team News – Armagh vs Mayo

Armagh have named an unchanged team to take on Mayo, from the one that earned a draw against Monaghan last weekend.

Once again, their bench could have a big part to play, just as it did in round three when the game was in the melting pot.

Conor Turbitt scored 1-1 after being introduced. His goal was the crucial score, coming just after Armagh were denied a three-pointer from Rian O’Neill’s penalty.

It was great to see Oisin O’Neill back on the field last week and he marked his return with a point. Stefan Campbell also impressed after coming into the fray.

Mark Shields earned his 100th appearance in the orange and white and is still one of the key men in the squad.

Starting 15

Blaine Hughes keeps the number one jersey. Armagh found it difficult to break the Monaghan press and you can be sure Mayo will have taken note.

Aidan Forker commands the full back line as usual and has Paddy Burns and Aaron McKay for company.

The half back line remains unchanged as Connaire Mackin, Niall Rowland and Jarly Og Burns all keep their starting jerseys.

In midfield, Kieran McGeeney goes with Ciaran Mackin and Stephen Sheridan once again this week.

It’s an area that Armagh have no shortage of options. Oisin O’Neill has played most of his county career in the middle of the park.

Ben Crealey is coming back from injury while Niall Grimley, like Campbell, is being used as an impact sub so far in the league.

There’s a settle look about the half forward line, with Rory Grugan conducting the orchestra from the centre.

The hard-working Jemar Hall and Tiernan Kelly, who has scored in all three outings, hold the wings for Armagh’s attack.

Like a lot of the team, McGeeney looks to have settled on his inside trio. Jason Duffy, Rian O’Neill and Aidan Nugent have all impressed so far.

If Armagh are to earn two points on Sunday, it’s going to take more than just the 15 players that start.
