Orchard un-Laois lethal performance

Armagh 7-18 Laois 1-9

The Armagh Ladies were lethal on Saturday afternoon as they glided to the Division Two decider convincingly.

Laois were no match for Ronan Murphy’s side, who marched into an early ten-point lead before the opposition got off the mark.

Aimee Mackin rattled the net after 11 minutes to build on points from the Shane O’Neill’s star and Niamh Reel.

Eve Lavery chipped over a point, as did Niamh Coleman before Catherine Marley raised a second green flag.

Laois opened their account through an Emma Lawlor free, before Armagh hit their third goal.

This time it was through the boot of Niamh Reel as Armagh hit another scoring spree. Aoife McCoy (2), Mackin (free) and Niamh Marley all split the posts for the Orchard.

Blaithin Mackin got in on the act with another three-pointer, while Laois responded with a brace.

Aimee Mackin nabbed the final score of the half to bring Armagh’s growing lead to 18. 4-9 to 0-3.

Mackin started the second as she’s finished the first while Aoife McCoy ensured the goals kept coming.

Niamh Coleman and Mackin fired over points either side of Catherine Marley’s second major.

Niamh Marley and Mackin continued to tag on points while substitute Aoife Lennon claimed her first score of the campaign.

Blaithin Mackin was on target for Armagh’s seventh goal, while Lennon doubled her efforts in front of the posts.

Grainne Boylan hit another, as did Lennon as Armagh ran out easy winners in the end. The attack was lethal throughout, with the starting six hitting 5-12. The midfield added 2-2.

They’ll now face Kerry in the league final and the Kingdom are sure to give Murphy’s ladies a much tougher test.
