Team news – Armagh v Donegal

Kieran McGeeney has named his Armagh squad to take on Donegal in the final round of the national league tomorrow.

Armagh travel to Letterkenny with a chance to reach their first Division One final since 2005.

Donegal need the points as well, as they are fighting for survival in the top tier. That should make for an exciting contest.

Ethan Rafferty holds on to the number one jersey and will guard the Armagh goal for the fourth game in a row.

Defence

The Grange man conceded his first goal of the campaign against Kerry last weekend when he unfortunately slipped, letting the ball roll past him.

Aaron McKay, who wore five last week, reverts to his more comfortable position in the full back line. He’ll be joined by Aidan Forker and James Morgan.

Forker is likely to pick up Michael Murphy and track the Glenswilly giant wherever he goes. The Maghery man done an excellent job on Murphy in 2020.

Connaire Mackin has been restored to the half back line after being dropped for the Kerry game. He impressed when coming off the bench.

Niall Rowland misses out and Greg McCabe will line out at centre half back. Jarly Og Burns will once again start on the wing.

Niall Grimley gets his first start of the campaign and partners Ben Crealey in the centre of the field.

Conor O’Neill also starts for the first time this season and will accompany Rory Grugan and Tiernan Kelly at half forward.

Aidan Nugent is back from injury and back in the starting team. Andrew Murnin and Rian O’Neill complete the inside line.

Armagh once again have a strong bench to call upon, although Oisin O’Neill and Conor Turbitt remain on the injury list.

Ciaran Mackin, Niall Rowland, Jemar Hall and Ciaron O’Hanlon all started last weekend while Stefan Campbell is always another brilliant option to come in.
