Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week 15

Division 1A – Clann Eireann 0-8 Armagh Harps 0-8

The race for the Division 1A league title is hotting up as just two points separate Killeavy and the Harps at the top of the table.

The Harps have a game in hand over the league leaders following last night’s draw against Clann Eireann.

The visitors opened the scoring through Conor Lavery (free) and Joe McElroy. Lavery and Ryan McShane traded scores with the opposition to leave two the margin.

The same gap was the difference at the interval with two Conn Stevenson points putting his men 6-4 up.

Oisin Hughes extended the Harps lead, but Clann Eireann came roaring back into contention. The 2021 county champions nailed four points on the trot to go in front.

A great individual score from Joe McElroy tied the game and the sides finished all square, 0-8 apiece.

A Ryan Rafferty goal was the difference as Granemore climbed out of the relegation zone with a three-point win over Dromintee.

Brendan Boylan captured the ball in the square and played through Rafferty for the crucial score. 1-11 to 0-11

Elsewhere Killeavy and Maghery took a share of the spoils. Maghery lead 0-7 to 1-1 at the break but Killeavy came back into it to earn a draw, 0-9 to 1-6.

Division 1B

Sarsfields 1-8 Ballymacnab 1-10

Ballymacnab left it late, but they extended their winning streak to 12 on the bounce as they edged out Sarsfields.

Eamon McGeown opened the scoring for the hosts before Pearse Hughes grabbed a short kick out and fire home into an empty net.

Thomas McAlinden saw his effort matched by Gavin McParland before McGeown and Kevin McAlinden tied the game.

Kieran Hughes (free) and McParland put the visitors ahead once again. Pearse Hughes and Kevin McAlinden cancelled each other out to see the Nah ahead 1-4 to 0-5 at the break.

McParland extended their advantage to three early in the second period before Sarsfields shot back.

Thomas McAlinden raised a white flag before Paul McGeown punched in his side only goal of the game.

McParland (free) levelled matters, but Sarsfields stretched ahead once more through Paul McGeown and Thomas McAlinden.

Simon King ended a drought period for the Nab before a Kieran Hughes brace put them ahead.

Goalkeeper Chris Kerr nailed the final score of the night (45) to see Ballymacnab two points ahead at the final whistle.

Cullyhanna took a big step towards safety when they dished out a seven-point win over Silverbridge, 0-19 to 0-12.

Lennox Camara (2), Niall McCann, Michael Toland and Brendan O’Hagan all netted as Clan na Gael defeated Grange 5-12 to 0-10. Carrickcruppen saw off Pearse Og 0-15 to 0-13.

Clan na Gael 1-10 Mullaghbawn 0-10

Clan na Gael were back in action on Sunday when they defeated Mullaghbawn thanks to a second half Shane McPartland goal.

McPartland opened the scoring but it was the visitors led for the majority of the game.

Eddie English (2), Ciaran Grant, Niall and Shea Loye put Mullaghbawn 5-1 ahead.

Clan na Gael tagged on two points before the break through Stefan Campbell and Diarmuid Loney to make the score 5-3 at half time.

Grant and McPartland traded scores before Shea Loye and Patrick McAteer (45) put Mullaghbawn 8-4 ahead.

Michael Toland replied for the hosts but his effort was cancelled out by scores from Fergal O’Brien and Shea Loye.

Five points behind, Clan na Gael began to find their groove and McPartland punched home a goal after Campbell lobbed one into the square.

Substitute Matthew Lennon and Niall McCann scored to level the game.

A McPartland brace along with Campbell’s second secured the two points for Clan na Gael.
