Ladies league fixtures

The Armagh ladies now know their fate for the upcoming season as the 2023 LGFA National League fixtures were released yesterday.

The league is back to its normal structure after two years of regional divisions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the last two seasons Armagh were up against Ulster rivals Tyrone, Cavan and Monaghan in the northern section of Division 2.

And while the Orchard County will still have those same derby days this year, they’ll also face Roscommon, Laois, Westmeath and Tipperary.

Away days

Armagh’s campaign begins on the second last Sunday of January and they face two difficult away journeys to begin.

Shane McCormack’s ladies open their account with a trip to Cavan while they’ll travel to Roscommon a week later.

Their first home game of the season will come in round three as Armagh host Monaghan on the first Sunday of February.

They’ll then be on the road once again to face Tyrone in round four before enjoying two home games.

Rounds five and six will be played on home soil as Armagh host Leinster opponents Laois and Westmeath.

Armagh face a long trek in the final round of the campaign as they must travel south to take on Tipperary.

2022

The Armagh ladies will welcome the return to a full National League campaign and promotion will once again be the target.

The current Ulster champions came so close last year when they fell at the final hurdle against Kerry.

Armagh eased into the Division Two final with wins over Tyrone, Cavan and Monaghan and came so close against the Kingdom.

That experience will surely stand to them however, although they’ll be without start player Blaithin Mackin.

Under the new management team, led by Shane McCormack, it could be another big year for the Orchard County.

Ladies football is certainly on the rise in Armagh and the success of the senior side over recent years has brought the whole county behind them.
