Recent History – Armagh Ladies v Cavan

Armagh have won their two most recent meetings with Cavan and the sides have met three times in the last two years.

Last year’s league victory was one of four for the Orchard County on their way to the Division Two final.

Cavan beat Armagh in round three of the National League in 2021, knocking Armagh out of the promotion race.

2022: Armagh 2-13 Cavan 0-10 (National Football league R2)

Armagh opened their league account with a 5-9 to 1-10 victory over Tyrone and followed that up against the Breffni Blues.

Goals from Lauren McConville and Aimee Mackin sealed Armagh place in the semi-finals of the league.

The Orchard led by four at the half time break, with McConville’s major putting them 1-6 to 0-5 ahead.

Mackin top scored with 1-5 while Fionnuala McKenna (0-3), Aoife McCoy (0-2), Niamh Marley (0-2), and Blaithin Mackin (0-1) all scored.

2021: Armagh 3-18 Cavan 3-10 (All-Ireland R2)

Aimee Mackin was the star of the show as Armagh saw off Cavan with nine points to spare in 2021.

The Shane O’Neill’s sharpshooter claimed a personal tally of 0-10 to help her side past the Breffni Blues.

Three players also hit the net for Armagh. Kelly Mallon, Aoife McCoy and Caroline O’Hanlon all raised green flags.

Cavan put up a huge challenge, but Armagh rattled off 1-7 in the final quarter to earn the win.

2021: Cavan 2-12 Armagh 1-14 (National Football league R3)

Cavan edged out the Orchard County by the minimum of margins to make the last four of the league.

Armagh led at the half time interval, with two points the difference at the break, 0-9 to 0-7.

The sides were impossible to split in the second period, with Aimee Mackin netting from the penalty spot.

Cavan bagged two three-pointers of their own and they were ultimately the difference in the end.
