Armagh 1-13 Monaghan 1-3
The Armagh Ladies eased to a ten-point win over Monaghan on Sunday afternoon to continue their winning streak.
Armagh were the better team on display and despite conceding an early goal, controlled proceedings throughout.
Two Kelly Mallon frees got the hosts up and running before Alex Clarke extended their lead to three points.
Monaghan fired home the first goal of the game, and the first Armagh have conceded so far in the league.
But it mattered little as Armagh continued to dominate with Mallon adding another from the dead ball.
Armagh should have been further ahead, but a good save denied Blaithin Mackin a goal following her mazy run through the defence,
A long-range Mallon point, followed by a Mackin score, extended Armagh’s lead to three, 0-6 to 1-0.
Clarke then bagged an Armagh three-pointer, winning the Monaghan restart and blasting to the net.
Mallon and Mackin added further scores as Armagh carried a 1-8 to 1-0 lead into the half time break.
Aimee Mackin, introduced at the interval, took a pass off her sister Blaithin and slotted over her first score.
Blaithin then added to her tally while Clodagh McCambridge performed heroics at the other end, clearing a ball off the line.
Mallon traded scores with the visitors while Aimee Mackin did likewise with her two frees closing the scoring for the day.
Armagh’s winning run continues into the break as they stay at the top of Division Two, with promotion still very much in their sights.
