Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week Six

Division 1A – Crossmaglen 0-10 Clann Eireann 2-11

Clann Eireann continued their impressive start to the Division 1A league campaign with a seven-point win over Crossmaglen.

The Rangers made the brighter start, pointing through Caolan Finnegan and Jamie Clarke early on.

But goals from Adam Kelly and Daniel Magee put this visitors in the driving seat as they led 2-2 to 0-5 at the break.

Magee and Ronan Fitzpatrick traded scores at the start of the second half while Jack Conlon and Aidan McConville added to Clann Eireann’s advantage.

Cross could never close the gap, with the goals the difference throughout the second half. The victory sees Clann Eireann extend their unbeaten run to five in a row.

Madden 1-13 Ballymacnab 1-7

Madden overcame Ballymacnab on home soil to pick up their third win of the campaign, with six the difference in the end.

The Nab got off to a perfect start with Gavin McParland netting inside the opening sixty seconds of play.

But the sides were all square heading into the break. Conor Grimley tapped over four frees, while Kieran Hughes split the posts for Ballymacnab to see the score 1-1 to 0-4 at half time.

Finnen Maguire and Grimley exchanged efforts at the start of the second period before the hosts shot two ahead.

Hughes traded scores with Grimley, as did Paul Meegan, before Niall Smith palmed home a crucial goal for the hosts.

They added three further points through Eoin Grimley, Shea Vallely and Aron McKenna to see the game out.

Killeavy 1-11 Armagh Harps 0-10

A second half goal from Miceal McNamee earned Killeavy a hard-fought two-points against Armagh Harps.

Two points apiece from McNamee and Cathal Boylan put the home side 6-2 ahead in the opening half.

Tom O’Kane had the final say of the first period, cutting the deficit to three at the break with Killeavy ahead 6-3.

Harps were back on level terms five minutes after the turnaround, with O’Kane and Luke McKeever (2) splitting the posts.

Cathal Agnew exchanged scores with McNamee before Dara McCloskey shot the Harps in front. McNamee rattled the net soon after to put the hosts ahead and they never looked back.

Killeavy outscored Pascal Canavan’s side 4-2 in the closing stages to come away with a four-point win.

Elsewhere in Division 1A, Mullaghbawn earned a one-point win over Granemore on Thursday evening, winning 0-9 to 0-8.

Granemore have the chance to bounce back on Sunday when they host Clann Eireann while Mullaghbawn take on Ballymacnab.

Division 1B – Sarsfields 2-8 Silverbridge 1-8

Sarsfields handed Silverbridge their first defeat of the Division 1B campaign, earning a three-point win.

Sarsfields raced into an early lead with Colin Stevenson striking three points and Eamon McGeown rattling the net.

The away side battled back finally opened their account through Sean Conlon, who traded scores with Paul McGeown.

Patrick Reel, Pete Carragher and Ronan Reel all pointed for Silverbridge before the break with Sarsfields up 1-4 to 0-4.

Paul McGeown (2) stretched the Sarsfields lead before Conlon rattled the net for the Bridge to close the gap.

The sides traded scores before a Fintan Kelly goal stretched the lead for the hosts. Tiarnan Murphy and Odhran Smyth traded scores to bring the game to a close.

Elsewhere in 1B, Maghery were 0-17 to 0-4 winners over Grange while goals from Ryan Hughes Jnr and Cathal McKenna earned Dromintee a 2-13 to 1-10 win over St Peter’s.
