Crossmaglen claim victory over Granemore

Crossmaglen 1-14 Granemore 0-6

Crossmaglen saw off Granemore in the only Division 1A clash of the weekend with 11-points the difference between the two in the end.

A Cian McConville goal midway through the opening half put the hosts in the driving seat and Anthony Cunningham’s men never looked back.

The home side opened the scoring through Cian McConville before Aaron Keenan doubled their lead after 12 minutes of play.

Both sides were guilty of wasting opportunities, but the horrible under foot conditions made play extremely difficult.

Granemore got their end of the scoreboard ticking through full back Karl McQuiad after a quick one-two with Kieran Doyle.

Cross powered ahead with a beautifully placed Cian McConville goal after being played through by Oisin O’Neill.

A fantastic effort from Michael King offered Granemore’s response while the Rangers fired off three points in a row.

Rian O’Neill, playing on the edge of the score, claimed his first and second point, while Odhran Kieran also scored.

King doubled his tally with another fine score while a super turnover from McConville played Jamie Clarke through on the counter and he nailed the final point of the half. Cross ahead at 1-6 to 0-3.

Cross could have stretched their lead at the start of the second half when Clarke was baring down on goal, but Kelly Kevin pulled off a fine save.

Rian O’Neill fired over the resulting 45, followed by a mark before Peter Carr got the visitors up and running for the second half.

Oisin O’Neill swapped scores with his namesake Jason while a score from Carr closed to gap to six.

Cross finished with a flurry as Rian O’Neill, Caolan Finnegan, Ronan Fitzpatrick and Clarke reeled off scores.
