Clan na Gael 1-13 Crossmaglen 0-16
A last minute fisted goal from Shane McPartlan earned Clan na Gael a share of the spoils against Crossmaglen on Saturday evening.
The Rangers were three ahead at the time. But McPartlan punched home a late major after Callum O’Neill’s hopeful ball in.
The sides were evenly matched for the majority of the encounter and the lead traded hands on numerous occasions.
McPartlan and Rian O’Neill traded scores at the start of the game. Callum O’Neill did likewise with him namesake from Cross.
Niall Henderson saw his score cancelled out by O’Neill, who recorded all three of Crossmaglen’s opening scores inside the first ten minutes.
Callum O’Neill and Henderson put the home side two to the good. But Jamie Clarke and Rian O’Neill levelled things up.
McPartlan and Clarke exchanged efforts as did Stefan Campbell and Rian O’Neill before Oisin O’Neill put Cross ahead for teh first time.
Odhran Kieran’s first score of the night was matched by a McPartlan free as Cross headed into the break with a one-point lead, 0-9 to 0-8.
Like the first half, McPartlan got things underway after the turnaround with a brace of scores to put his side back ahead.
Oisin O’Neill tied things up once again while Clarke split the posts for Anthony Cunningham’s men to put them one up.
Cross started to pull away with Kieran and Ronan Fitzpatrick (2) raising white flags to open up a three point margin.
McPartlan pulled one back, but Oisin O’Neill cancelled out that score while Aaron Kernan made four the difference with his first.
McPartlan pointed to leave three between the teams and the Clans midfielder, who top scored on the night with 1-7, had the final say with the late goal.
