The visitors had suffered a heavy defeat to neighbours St Patrick’s in round one, but bounced back with a strong second half showing today.

Belleek took the lead in the first minute while Tullysaran replied with four points in as many minutes.

Mark McKeever was reasonable for three of those scores while Joe Fanthorpe also got in on the scoring act for the hosts.

Shane Quinn’s men responded to narrow the gap with two on the trot while Gavin Conlon traded scores with the opposition.

Belleek then rattled the net for the games only goal, with top scorer Mark McParland, who finished with 1-3, raising the green flag.

Tullysaran finished the half brightly with four scores coming through McKeever (3) and Conlon to level things up. Belleek 1-6 Tullysaran 0-9 at the break.

But the led changes hands once again as Belleek notched on two points in a row to nudge ahead by one.

Tullysaran were wasteful up top after the turnaround and passed up a number of goal chances, with Belleek keeper Rory Craven making a fine save.

They did tag on another four points however, two apiece from McKeever and Conlon, but the goal remained the difference in the end.

While McParland’s major was the crucial score on the day, he wasn’t on his own on the scoring front and Belleek had a number of names on their scoresheet.
