It was all one-way traffic in the opening half as St Patrick’s powered to a 17-point lead at the break.

They held their hosts scoreless while running up a tally of 2-11 themselves before the half time whistle sounded.

Nugent got proceedings underway with a free kick which was followed by a brace from Tony Donnelly.

Nugent added two more of his own, including one from play, before Ross McQuillan split the posts.

St Patrick’s continued to pile on the pressure with two more from midfielder Casey and another from Nugent.

Cullyhanna rattled the net once more just before the break, with McCreesh nailing the three-pointer.

The visiting side just edged the second period as it turned out to be a more even affair, even though the result was beyond doubt.

Nugent added to his tally with another major following scores from McAneney, Casey and Donnelly.

Peadar McBride claimed Middletown’s first score of the evening, chipping over a point from play while Marty Maguire claimed 0-2.

McQuillan split the posts twice while McAneney and Finn Donnelly kept the scoreboard ticking over for Cullyhanna.
