Ballymacnab to the four against Dromintee

Ballymacnab were much too strong for a weakened Dromintee outfit when the sides clashed in round two of the SFC.

With the breeze at their backs, Ballymacnab took full advantage in the first half to lead by eight at the interval.

Gavin McParland and Jack Grugan got the hosts up and running before Ryan Hughes Snr score for Dromintee.

But their score was soon cancelled out through a Kieran Hughes score, which started a scoring spree which yielded 0-8 on the trot.

Finnen Maguire and Ryan Watters got in on the scoring act, as did Rory Grugan (2) and Pauric Gribben (2).

Hughes pushed Ballymacnab nine ahead, but Dromintee pulled one back before the interval through Hughes Snr. That left the score 0-10 to 0-2 at the half time break.

Dromintee, who were mins Cathal and Darren McKenna along with Ronan Quinn and Sean McGenity, started the second half brightly.

Niall Courtney got their end of the scoreboard shifting, while Jack McArdle closed the gap to six points.

But 1-2 in five minutes from Rory Grugan fired Ballymacnab further ahead and gave Dromintee and even tougher uphill task.

McArdle added two more scores for the visiting side, as did Courtney, but the final minutes belonged to Ballymacnab.

With Dromintee chasing the game, Ballymacnab exposed the space in the defence and tagged on another three goals.

Dromintee netminder Aidan Morgan had pulled off two fine saves earlier on, but Jack Grugan raised Ballymacnab’s second and third green flags.

Hughes also rattled the net with a terrific shot to the top corner before Dromintee added the final score through Oran Loughran.

The win sees Ballymacnab claim top spot in Group A while Dromintee are at the bottom following two defeats on the trot.
