Armagh unchanged for Meath meeting

Kieran McGeeney has named an unchanged Armagh line up for Saturday’s showdown with Meath in the second round of the league.

The Orchard County saw off Louth on the opening day, winning by the minimum of margins, 0-12 to 0-11.

The starting 15 that took the field last weekend will get another chance to prove themselves from the first whistle.

Armagh used five substitutes against the Wee County, and could look to make a similar amount this weekend.

Jarly Og Burns was the one that really stood out. While Shane McPartland, Oisin O’Neill, Jemar Hall and Jason Duffy were also introduced.

Starting line up

Armagh kept a clean sheet against Ger Brennan’s side and Blaine Hughes will be targeting a third clean sheet on the trot.

The Carrickcruppen netminder also didn’t concede a goal when between the sticks against Derry in the McKenna Cup semi-final.

Paddy Burns, Ciaran Higgins and Peter McGrane, who earned his league debut last week, make up the full back line.

The half back line will once again read Barry McCambridge, Greg McCabe and captain Aidan Forker.

Forker did revert to the full back line from the start last weekend, however. He picked up Louth dangerman Sam Mulroy while Higgins moved to wing back.

Eoghan Frayne top scored for Colm O’Rourke’s side in their round one draw with Fermanagh. Forker could well pick him up on Saturday.

At midfield, Ben Crealey will once again partner joint vice-captain (along with Aaron McKay) Ciaran Mackin.

Rory Grugan, who scored one of the points on the weekend against Louth, will pull the strings for Armagh.

Kieran McGeeney has again chosen Conor O’Neill and Joe McElroy as two hard working wing forwards.

Stefan Campbell was named as Man of the Match for his display against Louth. He’ll join Conor Turbitt and Oisin Conaty inside.
