Armagh 1-15 Sligo 2-12
Armagh earned a share of the spoils against Sligo as Alex O’Boyle fired over a late free to level things up in the dying minutes.
Sligo had been four in front moments later, but the home side mounted a comeback and got their just rewards.
Fionntan Donnelly and Paul Gaffney, Armagh’s only other two scores, were also involved in the revival.
But it was O’Boyle who deservingly catches the headlines as he finished the game with an impressive tally of 1-7.
O’Boyle’s early efforts were matched by Naill Kilcullen and Tony O’Kelly-Lynch. But the Armagh attacker got his side ahead with a goal.
The lead was short lived however as Conor Hannify powered past his defender and fired the ball low to the corner.
Armagh responded with two Paul Gaffney scores. But Sligo tagged on five-points to leave the score 1-9 to 1-4 at half time.
Armagh started the second half brilliantly with Fionntan Donnelly and O’Boyle (2) before O’Kelly-Lynch swiped over another free.
O’Boyle then dragged Armagh into the lead, with four points on the trot putting them 1-11 to 1-10 ahead.
But just as it seemed Armagh would push on, Sligo shot back with a second goal from Hannify. Cawley and O’Kelly-Lynch points gave them a four-point cushion.
Donnelly (2) and Gaffney added scores to leave it a one-point game before O’Boyle topped a superb performance with an equaliser.
