Camogs line up Laois clash

Armagh will be aiming to make it two wins from two when they enter the second round of the league against Laois.

The Orchard County got off to a flying start last weekend when they saw off Roscommon on home turf.

Eight points separated the sides in the end, with Armagh rattling the net five times in the game.

Sinead Quinn was the top scorer on the day for Sean Hughes’ side. She claimed a personal haul of 2-5.

Rachael Merry, Niamh Forker and Caoimhe McKenna were also instrumental, hitting one goal each.

Tiarna Maxwell, Eimear O’Kane and Ciara Geoghegan all gave a helping hand, each raising a white flag.

Laois also opened their account with a win last weekend when they defeated Leinster opponents Kildare.

It was a slightly tighter contest than the one Armagh had against the Rossies, with Laois coming through by five.

They didn’t quite record the same number of goals as the Orchard County did. But Laois would have been happy with their return.

The ladies from the O’Moore County hit the net three times in their entertaining 3-14 to 2-12 victory.

Lucy O’Connor smashed home two goals in the first ten minutes. She’ll attract plenty of attention from the Armagh rearguard.

Substitute Susie Delaney also hit the net in the opening round for Laois and could be in for a starting place.

It’s a top of the table clash and a win her for Armagh would see them retain their place at the top of the table.

They are on the road however, which will offer it’s own challenges, but the Orchard County will be filled with confidence.

Their focus will firmly lie on getting back to another Division 3A league final and a win here would set them on their way.
