Armagh keep winning run intact against Kerry

Armagh made it five league wins from five outings with an impressive victory over reigning NFL champions Kerry.

A brace of second half goal from Aimee Mackin helped the Orchard County retain their spot at the top of Division One.

It was the visiting side that opened the scoring with Hannah O’Donoghue pointing inside the first sixty seconds.

Armagh responded through a levelling score by Aoife McCoy before Aimee Mackin put the hosts ahead.

Niamh Coleman, a Gaelic Life Club All-Star winner, raised another white flag to open up a two-point gap.

Armagh’s lead grew further with the next attack as experienced midfielder Caroline O’Hanlon rattled the net.

Emma Dineen pulled two back for the Kingdom before Aimee Mackin restored Armagh’s four-point advantage.

Niamh Carmody swapped scores with McCoy while Mackin shot offer a superb brace of scores.

Katie Brosnan grabbed the final point of the first half as Armagh held a double score lead. Greg McGonigle’s side were 1-7 to 0-5 up at the interval.

Carmody got the scoring underway after the turnaround while Anna Galvin cut the deficit to the goal.

Dineen saw her pointed effort cancelled out by Lauren McConville before Brosnan netted to level things up.

O’Donoghue edged Kerry ahead for the first time since the opening minute, but Corinna Doyle tied things up.

Niamh Henderson exchanged efforts with Brosnan before 1-2 from Mackin gave Armagh some breathing space.

Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh and Galvin kept Kerry in touch before Mackin added a third goal for the Orchard County.

Carmody and Mackin cancelled each other out while Eve Lavery added the final score of the game to give Armagh a seven-point win.
