Division 1A – Meet the managers

Four teams competing in Division 1A have new management teams in place ahead of the upcoming 2024 league campaign.

Armagh Harps: Pascal Canavan

Former Tyrone player Pascal Canavan is back in charge of Armagh Harps for a second season.

Canavan led the Harps to the last eight of the SFC last year, where they lost to Crossmaglen after extra time.

The Harps have a number of talent youngsters coming through their ranks that will see plenty of game time.

Clann Eireann: Ruairi Lavery

2024 will be Lavery’s third season in charge of Clann Eireann having taken over from Tommy Coleman in 2022.

Clann Eireann claimed the Division 1A league title last season, winning nine of their 14 league outings.

The championship didn’t go to plan, but Clann Eireann remain one of the top teams in the county.

Crossmaglen: Anthony Cunningham

Anthony Cunningham enters his second season in charge of Crossmaglen, having guided them to the SFC title last season.

Their Ulster campaign didn’t get off the ground, losing to Trillick by five points in the opening round.

However, the Rangers remain the team to beat in the Orchard County and will once again have a big say come the championship.

Dromintee: Kieran Quinn

Culloville native Kieran Quinn guided Dromintee into Division 1A last season after earning promotion.

They finished second behind Silverbridge in Division 1B but will look forward to competing at the top tier.

Dromintee struggled in the senior championship last season, but injuries halted their progression.

Granemore: Stephen Cusack

The former Maghery wing back takes his first step into management, taking over Granemore this season.

Cusack won two championship medals with Maghery in 2016 and 2020. He was also Club Player of the Year in 2017.

He takes over from Niall McAleenan and Granemore will look to hold on to their 1A status once again.

He held the reins at Granemore for two seasons and stepped down at the end of last year before taking over Killeavy.

Madden: Mark Harte

Mark Harte is the new Madden manager for the year ahead having replaced Mickey Grimley in the dugout.

Harte managed his own club Errigal Ciaran to back-to-back county final appearances, winning one in 2022.

Son of legendary Tyrone manager and current Derry boss Mickey Harte, he will be joined by Adrian O’Donnell.

Silverbridge: Rory Donnelly

Three Silverbridge men will manage the senior team this season as they prepare for a campaign in Division 1A.

Rory Donnelly, Colm Traynor and Damien McCann are in charge, replacing last year’s boss Colm Nally.

Nally led the ‘Bridge to the Division 1B league title in 2023 but is currently involved in the Kildare management team.
