Division 2A & 2B Match Reports – Week One

Division 2A Round Up

Grange overcame Shane O’Neill’s by two-points in the opening round of the Division 2A league campaign.

The two sides were relegated from the senior grade last season and played out an entertaining affair, with Grange winning 1-11 to 0-12.

Keady and Carrickcruppen played out an even draw after 60 minutes of action, finishing 0-8 each.

Keady, playing on home turf, flew into a 5-0 lead by half time but Carrickcruppen came right back into the contest.

Ciara Donnelly, Conor Hughes and James O’Hara all hit 0-2 apiece for Keady while Ryan Donnelly and James King grabbed 0-1 each.

Three second half goals helped Pearse Og pick up a four-point win at home overly newly promoted side Annaghmore.

The sides were all square at the half time break, 0-4 each, but the Ogs pulled away after the turnaround.

Early goals for the home side drove the Ogs into a six-point lead. Annaghmore did come back into it through Connor Cullen, who netted and struck over a few points.

But another three-pointer from substitute Aaron McGahan ensured another opening round win for the hosts.

Division 2B – Clonmore 1-9 Belleek 1-13

Belleek edged an entertaining affair with Clonmore on Saturday evening, coming away with four-points to spare.

Clonmore got off to a flying start with points from Caolan Donaghy and Sean Quigley before hitting the net.

Belleek captured a first half goal of their own, coming through James McParland who converted from the spot.

It was nip and tuck before Ryan O’Hagan nailed a levelling score, but it was the visitors who lead at the break.

Belleek pushed on in the second half, but Cahal Cunningham got the distance back to a single point late on.

But Belleek finished with a flurry, striking three-points on the trot to earning an opening round victory.

Round Up

Whitecross saw off Crossmaglen IIs in convincing fashion on Saturday evening, winning by 12 in the end.

Just one point separated the sides at the break, but the Rangers failed to score after the turnaround.

A second half major from the home side saw them begin their 2024 campaign with a win, 1-12 to 0-3.

Elsewhere, Wolfe Tones saw off Tir na nOg on home soil, winning with five-points to spare in the end, 0-11 to 1-3.
