Division 3A & 3B Match Reports – Week One

Division 3A – Forkhill 1-9 Eire Og 1-8

Forkhill brushed past Eire Og to start their Division 3A campaign with a win by the minimum of margins.

The home side raced into an early lead with Eoghan Roe O’Neill (2), Stephen Sheridan, Tony Canning and Cormac Toner scoring.

Eire Og responded with their first point Callen Doran rattled the back of the net to leave it 0-5 to 1-1 at half time.

The visitors went ahead at the start of the second half before Sheridan raised a green flag for Forkhill.

Both sides traded scores towards the end of the game, with Forkhill just doing enough to edge over the line.

St Michael’s and Lissummon couldn’t be separated and finished 1-7 to 0-10 while Middletown saw off An Port Mor 1-11 to 1-5.

Division 3B – Clady 4-13 Killean 0-3

Four goals split evenly by the half time whistle saw Clady cruise to a 22-point victory over Killean on Saturday.

Killean, fielding for the first time since 2013, are still finding their feet and had some encouraging performances.

But Clady just had too much firepower on the day with the goals coming through Liam Doyle, Colm Savage (2) and Gerard Grimley.

Doyle raised two white flags before Killean opened their account as goalkeeper Noel McCoy pointing a free.

Michael Lamph, Doyle and Sean Toner all pointed before Doyle grew his own tally with a three-pointer.

Clady followed that up with a goal from Savage along with scores from Michael Gorman and Grimley.

McCoy chipped in with another converted free before the break, with Clady ahead at half time 2-7 to 0-2.

McCoy and Doyle traded scores at the start of the second half before Paddy Hughes grabbed his first point.

Grimley then netted from the spot and kicked another point before Hughes swung over a huge score.

A Doyle brace was followed by a second Savage goal and that saw Clady collect the two-points on offer.

Elsewhere, goals from debutant Michael Mallon and Adam Loughran saw Thomas Davis beat Dorsey 2-13 to 0-3.
