Armagh Minors make it two from two

Cavan 1-9 Armagh 2-11

Armagh picked up their second victory on the trot in the Ulster Minor Championship, defeating Cavan by five-points.

The travelling side got off to a perfect start when Jack Loughran grabbed a goal after just four minutes.

Joshua Shehu and Fionn O Tuathail traded scores before Shea Loughran registered his first of the afternoon.

Eoin Duffy added another score for the Orchard County, as did James McCooe, to make it a six-point game.

Nathan Quigley pulled one back for the home side, but that was matched by Diarmaid O’Rourke. That left Armagh ahead 1-5 to 0-2 at the half time break.

Shehu and Tadgh Sheils pointed at the start of the second half to bring Cavan back into contention.

The Breffni men then claimed their first goal of the day, coming through half time substitute Ultan O’Reilly.

Armagh replied instantly at the other end of the field, with Duffy splitting the posts for his second point.

Wing forward Sheils pulled one back for the home side, but Armagh raised another green flag through Aaron Garvey.

Duffy added to his own personal tally, but it was cancelled out by Cavan’s Charlie Fallon, to make four the difference.

Ryan Nwaneri swapped scores with Oisin Gribben, who split the posts straight after entering the fray.

Shehu tapped over a free before Michael Walker, another second Armagh substitute, got in on the scoring act immediately after coming in.

Fiachra Brady kept Cavan in touch, but his score was cancelled out by Walker while Ross Marsden also pointed.
