Division 2A & 2B Match Reports – Week Three

Division 2A – Keady 0-8 Annaghmore 0-8

Keady and Annaghmore finished all square as they met in round three of the Division 2A league on Friday.

A red card early in the second half hindered Annaghmore’s chances, but they held on for a share of the spoils.

Annaghmore got proceedings up and running through John McCormack before Keady replied through Johnny Nugent.

Ciaran Donnelly then put the home side ahead with a well taken mark, assisted by his older brother Ryan.

Annaghmore really took charge from that point, scoring five on the trot, with Oisin MacIomhair proving a real handful.

MacIomhair slotted three while Connor Cullen (free) and John McConville (45) raised white flags to make it 6-2.

Matthew McNiece got in on the scoring act, splitting two James O’Hara points to lead 0-7 to 0-4 at the halfway point.

Two further frees from O’Hara narrowed the gap to the minimum of margins right at the start of the second half.

Cullen traded scores with Donnelly while Shea Harvey levelled matters with 15 minutes still to play.

Both sides passed up scoring opportunities that would have won the game, but in the end had to accept a draw.

Elsewhere, Carrickcruppen cruised to another comfortable victory as they proved much too strong for Carrickcruppen.

Cathal O’Grady claimed a hattrick of goals while Eoin O’Kane also hit the net. James Madden claimed Tullysaran’s only three-pointer in the 4-15 to 1-8 loss.

St Paul’s picked up their first win over the campaign when they hammered Grange on Thursday, 2-19 to 0-9.

Division 2B – Belleek 1-12 Derrynoose 0-12

Belleek continued their perfect start to the campaign as they saw off Derrynoose with three-points to spare.

A second half major was the crucial score for the home side and proved to be the difference in the end.

Both teams started off brightly and the score was tied 0-3 apiece after 15 minutes before Belleek nudged ahead by two.

A Conor McNally free saw Derrynoose pull one back just before the break with the score 0-5 to 0-4 at half time.

Oisin McNally levelled matters at the start of the second half while Cian McMullan and McNally traded scores with the hosts.

McMullen put Derrynoose ahead before Belleek raised the only green flag of the night on the 41st minute.

That kept Belleek’s noses ahead throughout the rest of the game and saw them earn their third victory on the trot.

Clonmore grabbed two goals of their own in the night, both coming inside the opening 35 minutes of play.

Ryan O’Hagan raised the first green flag before James Grimley nabbed a second. That gave the home side a 2-7 to 0-8 half time lead.
