Division 3A & 3B Previews – Gameday 4

Division 3A

All of the Division 3A games this weekend take place on Friday and as usual there’s lots of points up for grabs. League leaders Middletown have won all three of their games and they take on Collegeland.

Middletown have experienced wins over An Port Mor, Lissummon and St Michael’s to sit on six-points. Collegeland have only had one outing so far and that was a draw with Lissummon last weekend.

Lissummon are back in action on Friday and they’re still searching for their first win following two draws against St Michael’s and Collegeland either side of a six-point loss to Middletown.

They take on Eire Og who are currently at the bottom of the table having lost their three games. They suffered one-point loses to Forkhill and An Port Mor while Ballyhegan proved four-points better off.

Last years beaten JFC finalists Ballyhegan rattled off five goals against Forkhill last week and have been in fine form. They currently sit second in the Division 3A league table with two wins from two.

Ballyhegan host St Michael’s, who rest just behind their opponents with three-points to show for their efforts. Last week’s defeat to Middletown was their first of the campaign as they also drew with Lissummon and beat Forkhill.’

That’s two defeats on the bounce for Forkhill and they’ll be keen to get back to winning way this weekend. They are away to An Port Mor, who head into the game full of confidence after last week’s win over Eire Og.

Division 3B

Redmond O’Hanlon’s will get their 2024 season up and running on Friday as they host table toppers Thomas Davis. Tony Bagnall’s O’Hanlon’s have yet to play while Thomas Davis have three outings under their belts.

Thomas Davis have won all three of those encounters, earning victories over Dorsey, Killeavy IIs and St Peter’s IIs. Joe O’Kane’s men look to be the team to beat in Division 3B during the early proceedings.

That defeat to Thomas Davis was the first outing for St Peter’s IIs and they take on Clady this weekend. Clady will be keen to bounce back from last week’s one-point defeat to Killeavy IIs.

Sean Savage has returned from Australia for Peter Beagan’s team and is a massive boost going forward. Liam Doyle has been the main man up front for Clady and is currently their top scorer.

Madden IIs are back in action having lost to Mullabrack last Monday evening. That followed their first game and first win of the campaign the Friday night before when they saw off Killean.

Liam Rice (2) and James Rice netted for Mullabrack in their 3-6 to 1-7 win over Madden IIs and they have won all three of their games. They are back in action this weekend as they face off against Killeavy IIs.
