Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week Six

Division 1A Round Up

Clann Eireann remain at the top of the Division 1A league table and extended their unbeaten run with a 0-12 to 1-9 draw with Killeavy.

Clann Eireann, who won their first four games, led 0-7 to 0-5 at half time but a second half penalty from Miceal McNamee earned Killeavy a share of the spoils.

Silverbridge are just behind Clann Eireann and they too have yet to taste defeat. On Friday night, they drew their second game in a row in a 0-7 apiece tie with Granemore.

Granemore held the upper hand in the first half and were 5-0 up at the halfway point, but Silverbridge battled back in the second half to earn a draw.

Crossmaglen are currently tied on eight points alongside Silverbridge and the Rangers earned a 0-11 to 0-10 victory over Madden.

Oisin Hughes was the main man for the Harps on Friday night and his personal haul of 1-3 helped Pascal Canavan’s side pick up a 1-13 to 1-10 victory over Dromintee.

Division 2B – Sarsfields 2-5 Ballymacnab 0-13

Ballymacnab earned their second victory of the season when they saw off Sarsfields by two-points on Thursday.

Two second half goals from the hosts brought them back into contention, but the Nab held on to win in the end.

Sarsfields made the brighter start on the night with Michael Stevenson and Eamon McGeown splitting the posts.

The Nab shot back into the game with the next five points. Aodhan Toner, Finnen Maguire, Cormac McKee, Colm McKee and Kieran Hughes (free) all split the posts.

Sarsfields lost attacking threats Stevenson and his replacement Kevin McAlinden through injuries. But McGeown pulled one back with a pointed free.

Benny Gribben swung over the final point of the opening period to leave Ballymacnab 0-6 to 0-3 ahead.

Daniel O’Toole stretched the lead after the turnaround while Patrick McCavigan and Pearse Hughes swapped scores.

Ryan Watters pointed a free before Sarsfields claimed their first goal. McGeown flicked the ball into the hands of Tommy McAlinden who rattled the back of the net.

Kieran Hughes and Shea O’Toole both scored from dead ball efforts before McAlinden claimed a second three-pointer.

Two Kieran Hughes points were split by Fintan Kelly as Ballymacnab held on to win by two-points.

Division 1B Round Up

A late goal from Gavan Duffy helped Cullyhanna see off Culloville with three points the difference, 1-11 to 1-8.

Culloville had been ahead 1-6 to 0-5 at the interval but Cullyhanna nudged ahead late on before two converted frees handed Culloville the advantage once again.

Duffy’s goal along with another point saw last years Intermediate All-Ireland champions win by three.

Maghery climbed to the top of the table as they picked up a three point triumph away to Clan na Gael, 0-9 to 0-6.
