Division 2A & 2B Match Reports – Week Six

Division 2A Round Up

A brace of Antoin McParland goals helped St Paul’s beat Keady in Friday’s Division 2A clash, while Odhran Magill also hit the net.

St Paul’s shot into an early 2-0 lead before Keady hit three on the bounce to go ahead through a fantastic Ciaran Donnelly mark.

Magill then claimed the games first goal off the back of a superb pass from Eoin McConville. McParland followed that up with his first major and that gave St Paul’s a 2-4 to 0-8 half time lead.

The home side rattled the net inside the opening five minutes of the second period, with McParland again raising a green flag.

The sides swapped scores and Ryan Lawless played a starring role for St Paul’s, scoring 0-3 as they ran out 3-11 to 0-12 winners.

Carrickcruppen tasted defeated for the very first time this season as Pearse Ogs picked up a 2-7 to 1-7 victory.

Annaghmore earned a one point win over Shane O’Neill’s with two goals from Oisin MacIomhair, including one from a penalty, helped them finish 2-8 to 0-13 ahead.

Division 2B – Derrynoose 1-9 Wolfe Tones 2-12

Two first half goals helped Wolfe Tones see off their hosts Derrynoose by six-points on Thursday evening.

James Lavery and Daire Greene both rattled the net while Cian McMullan raised a green flag for the home side.

The Tones got off to a magnificent start, rattling off 1-4 in the first ten minutes. Lavery claimed a major while Connelly O’Hagan (2), Chris Nugent and Jamie Haughey pointed.

Derrynoose bounced back with 1-3 on the trot. McMullan claimed the three-pointer while Conall McNally, Shea McNaughton and Fabio Moreira split the posts.

Greene swapped scores with McNally before striking a goal past the Derrynoose netminder. Matthew Hagan and Haughey followed it up with points for Peter Nugent’s side.

McNaughton claimed the final score of the half while the Tones were reduced to 14 men, with Lavery picking up a second yellow card. That left the score 2-7 to 1-5 at half time.

McNaughton and Moreira swapped frees with Nugent and Haughey while Paudie Judge also converted from the dead ball.

Davy McCreesh made an immediate impact when introduce, slotting over two scores. They were matched by O’Hagan and Odhran Magee, to see the Tones win by six.

Division 2B Round Up

Belleek continued their impressive start to the season and extended their winning streak to six on the bounce as they defeated Clann Eireann IIs 3-21 to 0-7.

Drew McVerry and Callum O’Neill top scored for the league leaders with 1-5 apiece while Sean McCreesh also chipped in with 1-3 on the night.

Two first half goals helped Tir na nOg capture a one point win away to Whitecross, with Marc Davidson and Jamie McAleenan hitting the net.

Tir na nOg led by three at the interval, 2-4 to 1-4 and although Whitecross fought back after the turnaround to level things up but a fisted Paul Hendron point secured the points for the Portadown men.
