Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week Seven

Division 1A – Silverbridge 1-13 Clann Eireann 1-13

Clann Eireann came from five-points down to snatch a draw against Silverbridge in Friday’s Division 1A top of the table clash.

The Bridge were four up at the interval and led by five in the final quarter before the reigning champions came roaring back into the game.

Ronan Reel got the game up and running while a Ruairi McDonald effort split two frees from Paddy Reel.

Aodhan McConville swapped score with Paddy Reel before a quickfire 1-1 from Sean Rock put Silverbridge six up.

Clann Eireann shot back instantly with three scores on the trot from McDonald, McConville and Ethan McKenna.

Joe Rock and Declan Mallon traded scores while Sean Conlon pointed to give Silverbridge a 1-7 to 0-6 half time lead.

A McDonald free at the start of the second half split two further scores from Conlon and Paddy Reel. McKenna then rattled the net for the visitors to cut the gap to two.

Pete Carragher, Sean Rock and Ronan Reel swung over further scores to open up a five-point margin.

Clann Eireann rattled off six of the last seven scores, with McKenna and McDonald raising white flags.

Aaron Duffy and McConville exchanged efforts before two points in as many minutes form Conor McConville left it a one-point game.

The opportunity to tie the contest fell to Daniel Magee who popped over a late mark to see the sides finish level.

Elsewhere, Killeavy surrendered a six-point lead as they lost out to Crossmaglen 1-12 to 1-13. Caolan McConville claimed the Killeavy goal while Orin McKeown hit the net for Cross.

Division 1B – Ballymacnab 3-10 Clan na Gael 2-13

A last-minute goal from Clan na Gael saw them leave Ballymacnab with a share of the spoils on Friday evening.

The Nab held a three-point lead deep into stoppage time but a scrambled Clans goal saw the game finish all square.

Kieran Hughes and James Austin traded scores early on before Austin slotted home the game’s first goal.

Jamie Brady raised a white flag at one end while Ryan Watters brought Ballymacnab back into it with a goal of his own.

Oisin McGivern and Shea McCann traded scores while Diarmuid Loney and Watters did likewise. Cianan Campbell grabbed the last score of the half with Clans winning 1-5 to 1-3.

Three on the trot from Finnen Maguire, Watters and Hughes saw the Nab edge in front for the first time.

Clans shot back with two of their own while Watters matched a Loney score before Watters claimed his second goal for the home side.

Cormac McKee also raised a green flag for Ballymacnab, but it was quickly cancelled out with three in a row.

Points from Watters and McGivern put the Nab four in front, but Clans hit a goal and a point to earn a draw.

Elsewhere, goals from Cormac Smyth and Fergal O’Brien saw Mullaghbawn beat Sarsfields 2-15 to 1-9. A Jack McAneney goal helped Cullyhanna draw with St Peter’s, 1-8 to 0-11.
