St Peter’s II overcome Redmond O’Hanlon’s

St Peter’s II 2-16 Redmond O’Hanlon’s 2-10

St Peter’s IIs picked up a six-point win over Redmond O’Hanlon’s in Monday evenings Division 3B league encounter.

The Lurgan men have been in fine form of late, winning their last five outings to sit second in the table.

Their opening round loss to league leaders Thomas Davis is the only blot on their otherwise perfect record so far.

O’Hanlon’s currently sit midtable having lost two, won two and draw one from their five outings to date.

A strong second half surge from the White’s helped them get over the line on Monday, having trailed by one at the interval.

Two goals after the turnaround allowed St Peter’s IIs to get their noses ahead and they pushed on from there.

Goalscoring certainly hasn’t been an issue for Lurgan men this season. Including Monday night, they have struck 23 majors in their last five games.

Redmond O’Hanlon’s haven’t exactly been goal-shy either. They claimed two three-pointers on Monday, bringing their overall tally to 13 for the year.

Both sides were also out on Friday night, and both picked up victories. St Peter’s IIs beat Killean 5-26 to 2-5 while O’Hanlon’s saw off Madden IIs 3-13 to 2-8.

Redmond O’Hanlon’s made the brighter start on Monday, with Daragh McNulty netting for the visitors.

That helped Tony Bagnall’s side head into the half time break with a narrow one-point lead, 1-7 to 0-9.

St Peter’s IIs grabbed two goals of their own in the second period coming through Decky Kilroy and Lachlan Crawford.

Matthew Taylor nabbed a second goal for the travelling side late on, but St Peter’s held on to win by six.

Redmond O’Hanlon’s are back in action again on Friday night and they take on Killean at home.
