Division 2A & 2B Previews – Gameday 8

Division 2A

There are only three Division 2A games that go ahead this weekend and they all take place on Friday night. Carrickcruppen remain at the top of the league despite not winning in their last two outings.

They drew to St Paul’s last weekend but will host Keady in round eight. Keady head into the game having lost their last two games, against St Paul’s and Shane O’Neill’s and will be keen to bounce back.

St Paul’s drew with Carrickcruppen last week and they are on the same points (9) as Barry Flynn’s men. They are away from home this weekend as they travel to Tullysaran on Friday evening.

Tullysaran lost to Pearse Og last Thursday evening, with two second half goals for the Ogs the main difference. Mark McKeever and Gavin Conlon remain the two key scoring threats up front for Tullysaran.

Grange picked up their second win of the campaign last week as they defeated Annaghmore by eight. They take on Shane O’Neill’s this weekend and Chris Rafferty’s men won the first meeting between the pair.

Miceal McKenna has returned in recent weeks for Grange and his two goals were crucial last weekend. Shane’s beat Keady by two-points in their last outing and both will be keen to continue that form.

Division 2B

The Division 2B action gets underway on Thursday evening as table toppers Belleek host Clonmore. Belleek have won all of their seven outings so far while Clonmore sit second from bottom on two points.

No one has scored more than Belleek in Division 2B and they’ve hit eight goals in their last four games. Clonmore on the other hand have leaked nine goals in their last four outings but did keep a clean sheet last week.

That was against Wolfe Tones as they pair came away with a point apiece following a 0-8 to 0-8 draw. Peter Nugent’s Tones are back in action this week as they travel to Tir na nOg on Friday night.

Tir na nOg have only lost once in their last four outings but did suffer a five-point defeat when they last met Wolfe Tones. That was in the first round of the league and the Portadown men will hope to make home advantage count.

Cross IIs sit at the bottom of the table with zero points but they’ll hope to change that when they meet Whitecross. The Rangers have lost all five of their league games but gave a fine display against Belleek last week.

Whitecross lost to Clann Eireann IIs last weekend and currently sit midtable with six points from seven games. Clann Eireann IIs are above them in the Division 2B table, having picked up seven points.

They take on Derrynoose on Friday evening and Paul Hagan’s side haven’t played since their six-point defeat to Wolfe Tones two weeks ago. Davy McCreesh game on to kick 0-2 that night and should be back in from the start.
