Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week Eight

Division 1A Round Up

A first half goal from Daniel Cumiskey helped Crossmaglen overcome Armagh Harps in Friday’s Division 1A clash.

The visitors carried an eight-point lead into the half time interval, leading 0-4 to 1-9.

Cumiskey opened the scoring for the second half while the Harps responded through James Walsh.

Cross pushed their advantage out to 12 midway through the second half and saw out a 1-18 to 0-8 win.

Joe Sheridan claimed the all-important goal for Madden as they saw off Granemore with two-points to spare.

Sheridan rattled the net in the opening period and that helped Madden earn a 1-9 to 0-10 victory.

Clann Eireann continued their unbeaten run at the top of the table as they beat Dromintee by three-points, 0-16 to 1-10.

Killeavy handed Silverbridge their first defeat of the campaign, coming away with a 0-10 to 0-8 win.

Division 1B – Sarsfields 3-4 St Peter’s 0-11

An injury time penalty save from Sarsfields goalkeeper Stephen McArdle saw them collect all two-points against St Peter’s.

Sarsfield trailed but two at the break but hit the net twice after half time to win the game.

St Peter’s got off to the best start with points from Ruairi McDonald, Niall McConville and Conan Moore.

Sarsfields tied things up with a Thomas McAlinden goal while Ryan Kelly and Micheal McKenna swapped scores.

McKenna traded points with McConville, who tagged on a final brace to give St Peter’s a 0-7 to 1-2 half time lead.

McConville and McKenna cancelled each other out once again before Patrick McCavigan split the posts.

Eugene Doran and Gavin McCormack raised white flags for the visitors before McKenna and Eamon McGeown palmed home goals.

McArdle pulled off a fine save from the spot and that gave the hosts a two-point victory.

Culloville 1-11 Ballymacnab 1-10

Ryan Duffy scored the winner for Culloville as they came from two-points down to beat Ballymacnab by the minimum of margins.

The Blues, playing on home turf, rattled off the final three points of the night.

Dara Quinn and Fergal Kieran swapped scores with Jack Grugan and Kieran Hughes early on before the Nab hit three on the bounce.

Hughes and Grugan both raised white flags, as did Benny Gribben. Quinn and Charlie Garvey pointed while Ryan Watters added a free for the Nab.

Niall Rowland punched home a goal just before the short whistle to give Danny Hughes’ men a 1-4 to 0-6 half time lead.

It was score for score in the second half, as Watters, Hughes and Grugan matched points from Garvey, Steven McCreesh and Rowland.

Fergal Traynor split the posts before Pearse Hughes smashed home a goal to put the Nab ahead.

Hughes then fired over a 45 but Culloville nailed three of the trot through Traynor, Rowland and Ryan Duffy to win by one-point in the end.

Elsewhere, goals from Cormac Smyth and Patrick Hughes helped Mullaghbawn beat Clan na Gael 2-10 to 0-12. Maghery saw off Cullyhanna on home turf by 0-14 to 0-8.
