Division 2A & 2B Previews – Gameday 9

Division 2A

All of this week’s Division 2A league games take place on Friday evening and there are some big games coming up. Grange have made an incredible transformation of late and are suddenly sitting in a top four spot.

They take on Pearse Og this weekend, who rest just two-points above them in the league table. The Ogs were convincing winners when these sides last met, but Grange seem to have turned a corner.

Tullysaran are at the bottom of the table on four-points but like Grange, one result could turn their season. They’ll hope that comes true this weekend as they travel to Keady, who are two-points above them.

Both sides lost to the league leaders last week with Tullysaran losing out to St Paul’s by three in the end. Similarly, Keady tasted defeat at the hands of Carrickcruppen, who saw out a five-point win.

Darren Fox’s goal proved the key score for St Paul’s, who take on Annaghmore this week. Annaghmore have only won one of their last five games but did beat St Paul’s when they clashed earlier in the league.

Carrickcruppen make the short journey to Shane O’Neill’s on Friday as they two near neighbours lock horns. Shane’s currently sit second bottom in the table and have won three of their last five games.

But they did lose to Grange last weekend and they face an uphill battle against Cruppen, who were comfortable winners when the two teams faced off earlier on in the league.

Division 2B

Clann Eireann IIs can join Wolfe Tones in second place in the Division 2B league table with a win this weekend. They host the Tones and last years Junior champions currently trail them by two-points.

The Tones have a superior score difference and also won quite comfortably when they last met in the league but have only picked up one-point from their last two outings. Clann Eireann IIs on the other hand, beat Derrynoose by seven last week.

Derrynoose have lost to both Wolfe Tones and Clann Eireann IIs in recent weeks but can bounce back on Friday. They take on Cross IIs, on home turf, and the Rangers and the Rangers have yet to register a point.

They lost to Whitecross last week and Whitecross take on league leaders Belleek at home on Friday. Belleek have won all eight of their outings so far and beat Whitecross by three when they last met.

Tir na nOg have been in fine form of late and have only lost once in their last four league games. They host Clonmore on Friday night and Brendan Donaghy’s side need the points as they’re currently in a relegation spot.
