Division 3A & 3B Match Reports – Week Nine

Division 3A

There’s a three-way tie at the top of the Division 3A league table as Ballyhegan, Forkhill and Middletown all sit on 12 points. Forkhill and Middletown have an identical record after nine games, while Ballyhegan have a game in hand.

Despite losing for the second time this season and the second weekend in a row, Ballyhegan are still the league leaders, having beat Forkhill and Middletown in their most recent clashes.

Eire Og were impressive 14-point victors away to Ballyhegan on Friday night as they saw out a 2-14 to 0-6 win. Eoghan O’Hagan grabbed the first three-pointer for the Craigavon men while Jake Walsh converted a penalty.

Collegeland overcame their rivals An Port Mor with a three-point home win, gaining revenge for their recent one-point defeats to the same opposition. John McLaughlin netted for the visitors, but Collegeland won 0-16 to 1-10.

Goals from Fionnan O’Braonain and Rory Grimes guided Middletown to a 2-11 to 1-13 win over Lissummon. It was all square in the final few minutes before Brendan Connolly nailed a late point to steal it for the away team.

Elsewhere in Division 3A, Forkhill were worthy winners on the road as they defeated St Michael’s Newtown by 12-points. Forkhill rattled off three goals on the night to win comfortably, 3-13 to 1-7.
