Division 2A & 2B Match Reports – Week Ten

Division 2A Tullysaran 2-9 Carrickcruppen 1-11

Tullysaran upset the odds on Friday night to pick up their third victory of the Division 2A league campaign. They overcame Carrickcruppen by the minimum of margins in the end, 2-9 to 1-11.

Two first half goals put the home side in the driving seat as the lead at the half time break by nine-points. Carrickcruppen battled back bravely in the second half, but youngster Colm Hughes landed the final game-winning score.

Eddie Mallon and Adrian Conlon both rattled the net for Tullysaran as they built up a 2-6 to 0-3 half time lead. Mark McKeever sailed over 0-3 in the opening half while Gavin Conlon hit 0-2 and Ryan Conlon scored 0-1.

After the turnaround, it was Cruppen who had the advantage of the breeze, and they certainly made it count. Gavin Conlon and James Madden claimed scores after the turnaround, before Hughes split the points to earn his side the two-points on offer.

Keady beat Annaghmore 2-12 to 0-12 with Shea Harvey raising a green flag before a 45 from Keady keeper Matthew Nugent also ended up in the back of the net. A Vincy Brady goal helped Pearse Og earn a share of the spoils at home to Shane O’Neill’s, 1-8 to 0-11.

Division 2B – Clann Eireann 1-4 Tir na nOg 2-12

Tir na nOg continued their excellent form with a fourth victory in a row as they saw of Clann Eireann IIs on Thursday. First half goals from Johnny McGurgan the impressive Eamon Curran were key for the visiting side.

Zion McKernan and Eamon Curran opened the scoring early on as Tir na nOg got their noses ahead and never looked back. McGurgan bagged their first major before Clann Eireann IIs rallied with a goal of their own.

Paul Hendron steadied the ship for Jim McCooe’s men while McKernan, Curran and Marc Davidson also raised white flags. After a goalmouth scramble, Curran hit their second goal to give them a 2-7 to 1-1 half time lead.

Davidson, Hendron and Carlos Pires added further scores while Aodhan O’Connor and Diarmuid Tennyson performed brilliantly at the back.

Division 2B Round Up

Derrynoose handed league leaders Belleek their first defeat of the season as they earned a 1-13 to 1-10 win. Derrynoose held a slender two-point lead at the break, before pushing on in the second half.

Belleek got their noses ahead at the start of the second half before Conor McNally tied things up. McNally then rattled the net to put Derrynoose three ahead and the powered to victory in the final quarter.

Belleek pulled back a goal of their own through Drew McVerry, but scores from McNally and Sean McGuigan gave Derrynoose the win. Elsewhere, Whitecross and Clonmore finished 0-13 apiece while Cross IIs and Wolfe Tones drew 2-7 to 1-10.
