Division 1A & 1B Match Reports – Week 11

Division 1A – Silverbridge 3-8 Madden 0-14

Three first half goals saw Silverbridge earn a three-point victory over Madden in Thursday’s Division 1A clash. Silverbridge lead by six at the break, but Madden closed that gap after the turnaround.

Joe Sheridan was the main man up front for the travelling side, and he finished with 0-11 (6f) to his name. The Raparees were also left to rue some wasted opportunities they had in front of the posts.

Full back Gary Reel grabbed the games first score with a goal while Patrick Carr raised a white flag for Madden. Pete Carragher then smashed home a brilliant goal, firing the ball into the top corner.

Sheridan and Sean Rock traded frees while scores from Jack Murphy and two from Sheridan closed the gap. Conor McArdle also swapped points with Sheridan while Aron McKenna made it a one-point game.

Mark Rowland then buried a third goal for Silverbridge, blasting the ball into the back of the Madden net. Rock and McArdle added scores for the hosts before the break to see them 3-4 to 0-7 ahead.

McArdle chipped over two from the dead ball at the start of the second half while Sheridan hit 0-4 for Madden. Joe Rock and Tom Hamill split the posts for Silverbridge, while Sheridan nailed the final three points of the game to see it finish 3-8 to 0-14.

Clann Eireann remain at the top of the Division 1A table as they picked up a huge 5-17 to 0-6 victory at home to Granemore. Aodhan McConville scored 2-3 while Ruairi McDonald (penalty), Ethan McKenna and Michael McCaughley also hit the netted.

Killeavy overcame Armagh Harps 1-10 to 0-9. Niall Magennis claimed second half goal for the hosts while Ronan McGuinness and Oisin King kicked 0-2 apiece with Miceal McNamee and Caolan McConville making up the rest of the scores.

Crossmaglen also saw off Dromintee by 12-points on Friday evening. Two-points was the difference at the break, with Cross leading 0-10 to 0-8 and they pushed on in the second half to run out 1-17 to 0-8 victors.

Division 1B – St Peter’s 1-15 Ballymacnab 2-6

A dominant last quarter performance from St Peter’s saw them pick up a six-point home victory over Ballymacnab. The Nab had nudged themselves ahead, but St Peter’s outscored their opponents 1-5 to 0-1 in the last 15 minutes.

Niall McConville traded scores with Ryan Watters and Kieran Hughes early on before Oisin Ginesi put the home side in front. McConville and Watters exchanged further pointed efforts before McConville hit another brace.

A Watters free was matched at the far end by a score from Ruairi McDonald while McConville knocked over the final point of the half. That gave St Peter’s a 0-8 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Watters rattled the net right at the start of the second half while Hughes tied things up. McConville and Ginesi put St Peter’s back in front before Pearse Hughes blasted home a penalty to put the Nab one ahead.

St Peter’s took over from there however with scores from McConville, Emmet Haughian, McDonald and Eugene Doran. Jack Grugan pulled one back, but McDonald rattled the net and Ciaran McCavigan split the posts to hand St Peter’s a 1-15 to 2-6 victory.

Cullyhanna were huge winners over Sarsfields on Thursday night. Kieran Hoey, Jack McAneney and Pearse Casey netted in their 3-17 to 1-9 win. Culloville and Clan na Gael drew 1-14 apiece on Friday while Mullaghbawn beat Maghery 0-15 to 0-9.
