Division 2A & 2B Match Reports – Week 11

Division 2A Round up

Two late goals were the icing on the cake for Pearse Og as they overcame St Paul’s 3-12 to 2-9 in Friday’s Division 2A clash. St Paul’s netted twice in the first half, but the Ogs remained in touch and collected the two-points on offer.

Odhran Magill sent his side into an early lead with a goal after eight minutes, with St Paul’s pulling ahead 1-3 to 0-1. They hit another major just before the break through Ryan McCaughley, to put them 2-5 to 0-7 up at half time.

The Ogs found the net themselves at the start of the second half with Ruairi Duffy raising a green flag. Things were all square heading into injury time before Rhys Stevens and Conor Brady rattled off two goals in as many minutes to give the Ogs a six-point win.

Carrickcruppen jumped to the top of the division as they hammered Annaghmore 4-19 to 0-10. Jack Cunningham claimed two goals for the home side while Eoin Woods and Tiernan Kelly also hit three-pointers.

Tullysaran needed a last gasp goal to salvage a draw against Shane O’Neill’s as that game finished 1-13 each. A converted second half penalty by Shane’s put them five up but Tullysaran remained in the game and Mark McKeever claimed a late goal with the last kick.

Keady were 14-point winners on Friday evening as they took on Grange on home turf. James King and Tomas Galvin both rattled the net for Simon McGeary’s side as they ran out 2-13 to 0-5 winners.

Division 2B Round up

There were four one-point wins in Division 2B this week which sums up the competitive nature of the league. Wolfe Tones handed Belleek their second defeat of the campaign as they came away with a one-point win.

The Tones were well ahead late on, but Belleek came back into the contest to leave a nervy finish. Connell O’Hagan and Pauddy Judge netted for Peter Nugent’s men as they ran out 2-8 to 0-13 winners in the end.

Clann Eireann IIs also had a one-point win on Friday as they beat Clonmore 1-10 to 0-12 thanks to a Sean Corry major. A late free from Cathal McSherry saw Whitecross defeat Derrynoose 0-12 to 1-8.

Tir na nOg saw off Crossmaglen IIs by the minimum of margins. Eamon Curran and Johnny Murtagh both hit first half goals as Tir na nOg led 1-8 to 1-3 at half time. Cross came back into it after the turnaround, but Tir na nOg held on to win 1-13 to 1-12.
