Division 2A & 2B Previews – Gameday 14

Division 2A

There are only two Division 2A matches to be played this weekend with a couple of huge points up for grabs in both. Tullysaran earned a massive two-points last week away to Annaghmore, winning 1-10 to 1-7.

The sides were tied on 0-5 apiece before Tullysaran shot ahead with three on the bounce. But Annaghmore fought back with a goal. Barry Toner struck the net for the visitors and that handed them a three-point triumph.

Tullysaran are back on home tuft this weekend as they host Shane O’Neill’s. Two-points separating the sides in the league table. A win for either side would help ease fears of relegation to Division 2B.

Shane O’ Neill’s are aiming for a top four finish. A win on Friday evening would place them in the top section of the table. They are unbeaten in their last four games and will be keen to continue that run of fine form.

Annaghmore are back in action this weekend and they will once again enjoy home advantage when they take on Pearse Og. The Ogs are more concerned with the other end of the table, and they are chasing promotion.

Garreth Thornton’s men are on a six-game unbeaten streak, with a draw the only blot on their record in six outings. Annaghmore on the other hand have lost their last five league encounters.

Division 2B

There is only one game in Division 2B this week and it’s the dead rubber clash of Cross IIs and Clonmore. Both clubs already know their fate as both have been relegated to Division 3A for next season.

Clonmore were crowned Division 3A champions last season while the Rangers have competed in Division 2B for the last couple of years. But both sides struggled the earn victories this season.

Both teams had a couple of close encounters and were certainly competitive at this grade, they just couldn’t get the points on the board that would secure their status. They meet in Crossmaglen on Friday evening.
