St Paul’s 3-11 Sarsfields 2-6

St Paul’s were crowned u16 Division Three championship winners with an eight-point victory over Sarsfields. Goals from Jack Doran and star man Ryan Moore were the key for the Lurgan men.

Moore, who played for the minors in their championship final loss to Tullysaran on Monday night, top scored with 1-7. It threatened to get away from Sarsfields as different stages, but they showed heart to stay in the fight.

St Paul’s sharpshooter Moore kicked four of the first five points on the night. He split the posts with two frees and two from open play while Ronan Courtney (free) offered the only response for Sarsfields.

St Paul’s could have extended their led but for a marvellous save from Connor O’Hagan in the Sarsfields goal. Adam Cosgrove (free) swapped scores with Caelen Doyle before Jack Doran fired home the game’s first goal.

The High Moss men shot back before half time and grabbed a major of their own from Ruairi McAlinden. Cosgrove also tagged on the final score of the half from a free as St Paul’s led 1-5 to 1-3 at the break.

A Moore goal followed by a second score from Doyle grew the gap while Ciaran Shanks split the posts for Sarsfields. Doran added a second goal to his tally while Moore and Thomas McAlinden (free) raised white flags.
