Sarsfields 2-9 Keady 0-13

Sarsfields booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Intermediate Championship with a victory over Keady. Two goals from Tommy McAlinden and Paul McGeown split by the half time break were the key.

Sarsfields were six up at the break but Keady battled back to level the game midway through the second half. A red card to Ryan Donnelly hindered their revival but the accuracy of Sean Woods kept them going.

It took 11 minutes for the first score of the game to arrive, with Shea Harvey splitting the posts for Keady. Sarsfields replied at the other end of the park with two from Paul McGeown putting them back in front.

Keady again got their noses ahead when Ciaran Donnelly’s effort from outside the arc split the posts. However it was all Sarsfields for the rest of the half and McGeown reeled off a further five from the dead ball.

Just before the break, the High Moss men struck a crucial blow when they pounced on a loose Keady kickout. The ball was worked to Tommy McAlinden, who finished low to the net, giving his side a 1-6 to 0-3 lead at the break.

Donnelly and Colin Stevenson cancelled each other out at the start of the second period before Jack Molloy pointed. Keady’s cause was dealt a huge blow then when they lost Ryan Donnelly to a red card offence.
