After 35 games in the Intermediate Championship, it’s Sarsfields who come out on top as the champions for 2025. They defeated St Paul’s by three points on Sunday evening to end a 15-year wait for championship glory.

2010 was the last time the High Moss men got their hands on the Atty Hearty Cup. A number of the heroes from the class of 2025 were also part of the team that were champions of Armagh back then.

Michael Stevenson was the star of the show for Sarsfields last weekend and made a terrific impact off the bench. He contributed 1-4 on the day, including the late goal that was the ultimate difference between the teams.

Intermediate top scorer

For the first time in the championship, Paul McGeown didn’t finish the game as the top scorer for Sarsfields. But he finishes the Intermediate Championship campaign at the top of the hot shots list.

McGeown chipped in with four crucial points last weekend, seeing him claim top spot in the leaderboard. Overall, McGeown rattled off 4-36 in a year that will be fondly remembered around the Derrytrasna area.

Andrew Murnin finishes in second place, with his total just two-points shy of McGeown’s overall tally. The 2024 All-Ireland winning attacker kicked 0-7 for St Paul’s on Sunday as they lost a fifth final in six seasons.

Murnin was the top scorer for Shane McConville’s side in their last three championship outings. He finishes the season with 4-34 to his name with his majors coming against Annaghmore, Whitecross and Shane O’Neill’s.

Shane O’Neill’s sharpshooter Ruairi O’Brien ends the campaign as the third highest scorer in the Intermediate Championship. He nailed 2-30 for the Camlough men as they reached the semi-finals.

Jemar Hall of Forkhill scored 2-27 this year while Ethan Rafferty of Grange claimed 3-23. Eoin McConville of St Paul’s and Derrynoose’s John Joe Hughes hit 1-26 each while Conor McNally of Derrynoose notched 1-23.
