Clonmore 0-14 Middletown 0-10

A huge second half performance from Clonmore saw them overcome Middletown in the Junior Championship final replay. The sides were level at the interval, but Clonmore produced the goods after the turnaround to claim the Sean Quinn Cup for the third time in their history.

Stephen McCrory’s black card before the break suggested Clonmore could struggle at the start of the second half. Instead, they burst out of the traps, kicking six of the first seven points.

Man of the match Sean Quigley gave an outstanding performance, kicking 0-3 from centre half back. John Grimley likewise was on fire, also firing off 0-3, while Cahal Cunningham top scored with 0-5.

Cunningham got the game up and running with a two-point free before Brendan Donaghy fisted a score. A huge Fionnan O’Braonain two-pointer kept his side in touch, but Clonmore stretched three in front with scores from Raymond McBennett and Cunningham.

O’Braonain raised a second orange flag of the day to reduce the gap to one before McCrory was sin binned for ten minutes. Paddy Lynch slotted over the final score of the half, leaving things tied 0-5 apiece at half time.

Quigley and Cunningham (2) put Clonmore ahead while Middletown replied through Rory Grimes. Two scores from Grimley were split by another from Quigley while Grimes kept Middletown in contention.

Grimley and Quigley swapped scores with O’Braonain and Sean Og McGuinness to bring the gap to four. McGuinness and Cunningham also exchanged efforts before the final whistle blew to signal the end of the game.
