Keady 0-17 Middletown 0-15

Keady got their hands on the Jimmy Carlisle Cup for the first time since 2018 with a two-point win over Middletown. The Keady men had their noses ahead for the majority of the game, but could never truly shake off their opponents.

Keady burst out of the blocks with two scores in the first sixty seconds through Odhran Fullerton. They followed it up with another three on the bounce coming from Jim Short, and Conor Corvan (two frees).

Dean Gaffney got Middletown up and running before Caoinn Hughes cut the deficit. Conor Renaghan and Gaffney (free) swapped points while Gaffney (2) and Jake Toal tied things up.

Corvan nudged Keady ahead once more before Gaffney levelled matters for the second time. Keady finished the half as they started, with Fullerton firing between the posts, giving them a narrow 0-8 to 0-7 advantage at the break.

The Corvan brothers, Conor and John, both raised white flags at the start of the second period. Hughes and Gaffney added to their own individual tallies while Shea Harvey and Conor Corvan cancelled out those scores.

Corvan and Ryan Gaffney exchanged pointed efforts while Nathan Curry levelled up the scoreboard once again. Gaffney grabbed his second point of the afternoon to give Middletown the lead for the very first time.

Corvan made it a draw game once more before Harvey (2) and Renaghan put Keady back in the driver’s seat. Another two from Dean Gaffney kept Middletown in touch, but Corvan had the final say and his was the insurance point in the end.
