Killeavy 0-19 Sean Treacy’s 0-11

Killeavy captured the Intermediate Hurling Championship title as they held off Sean Treacy’s on Sunday afternoon. Joe O’Connor was the main man for the champions, leading the way with 0-9.

Killeavy raced into the lead with the first three points of the opening half through David Grant (2) and Darren McMullen. Anthony Carville got Sean Treacy’s up and running with a free, which was cancelled out by O’Connor.

Carville added another two from the dead ball, while O’Connor grabbed his second at the other end. Grant whacked over another before Conor Carabine nailed a long range free for the Lurgan men.

Killeavy finished as they started by rattling off three in a row before the half time whistle sounded. O’Connor (2) and substitute Uel O’Neill drove their side five in front at the interval, 0-9 to 0-4.

Carville nailed a brace of scores at the start of the second period while O’Connor and Carabine swapped scores. O’Connor added another two himself before Tiernan McKavanagh and McMullen raised white flags at either end.

O’Connor and Morgan Thomas split the posts to extend Killeavy’s advantage. Carabine grabbed his third while Killeavy almost hit the net, when Ruairi Hanlon’s effort glance across the face of goal, although he did strike a point in the next attack.
