Killeavy 2-12 Dromintee 0-8
Killeavy are through to their first Senior Championship final in 38 years after their victory over Dromintee. Two first half goals from top scorer Fergal Boylan were ultimately the difference between the sides in the end.
The second half was a low scoring but tense affair with Dromintee scoring just once despite having plenty of possession. Killeavy on the other hand did enough to keep the scoreboard ticking over at their end.
Both sides raised orange flags in the first three minutes, with Dylan McGahon Malone (free) cancelling out Callum O’Hare’s effort. Aron Magennis and Gareth Kilgallon traded points before Fergal Boylan rattled the back of the net.
Cathal and Fergal Boylan added singles, as did Conor O’Neill (free) while McGahon Malone stroked over a second from outside the arc. Jack McArdle narrowed the gap to three, but Fergal Boylan’s pointed effort dropped into the back of the Dromintee net.
O’Hare extended his own personal tally while Oran Loughran got in on the scoring act at the other end. Ronan McGuinness finished the scoring for the opening period with his first and that gave Killeavy a 2-8 to 0-7 half time cushion.
Magennis landed the first score after the turnaround and then doubled his efforts minutes later. Dromintee chased goals, and Jack McArdle came desperately close, but Shea Magill saved the initial effort and then it was cleared off the line.
Ciaron O’Hanlon slotted over his first of the night and provided Killeavy with a ten-point lead with minutes remaining. Magennis tagged on another, which was matched by a McGahon Malone 45 with the last score of the game.
