St Peter’s 2-10 Pearse Og 0-12
St Peter’s are the first team through to the Intermediate Championship final as they defeated Pearse Og. The top two teams in the competition, based on league positions, faced off in a feisty affair at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.
Both sides enjoyed periods of dominance on the scoreboard in the first half. Rhys Stevens opened the scoring for Pearse Ogs after just two minutes but St Peter’s soon shot ahead with the game’s first goal.
Conal Wilson sliced through the Ogs defence and slotted the ball straight to the net. That kickstarted their scoring spree as they followed it up with a two-pointer from Emmet Haughian while the experienced defender also swapped scores with Ruairi Duffy.
The Ogs then took over with Tiernan Quinn, Michael McSorley (two frees) and Odhran Houlahan pointing to tie the game. Conan Moore nudged St Peter’s ahead but the Ogs replied through a McSorley free.
McSorley grew his own personal haul before the short whistle with a two-pointer from the dead ball. That left the Ogs two to the good at the half time break, with the scoreboard reading 0-9 to 1-4.
St Peter’s levelled matters in the first few minutes of the second half through Callum McKerr and Niall McConville. McSorley landed another two frees while St Peter’s lost Niall McConville through injury, which was a major blow to their chances in the final quarter.

A huge two-point free from Ruairi McDonald got the Lurgan men back on level terms before Moore edged them in front. Moore then added the decisive blow, when he fired low and hard to the back of the Ogs net.
Substitute Patrick McGibbon notched a free after an Ogs defensive breach. The Ogs were then reduced to 14 men when Ruairi Duffy saw red before McSorley slotted over a close range free with the final score of the day.
