Ahead of Sunday’s Senior Championship final between Crossmaglen and Killeavy, we’ve taken a look at two key men.

Aaron Haughey (Crossmaglen)

Oisin O’Neill is possibly the easy choice for Crossmaglen due to his incredible scoring rates recently, but Haughey has been immense throughout the Senior Championship. It says a lot about his influence that he is the main kick out target for the Rangers.

Even when things were going against Cross in the semi-final against Clann Eireann, Haughey was fantastic. Throughout the first half, Haughey crashed into everything and was not only a force around the middle of the field and scored half of their first half tally as they trailed 1-14 to 0-4.

He was joint captain of the Armagh U20 team this year and has displayed those obvious leadership qualities at club level as well. He has been a constant scoring threat throughout the championship for Shane Lennon’s men and Killeavy will need to limit his influence if they want to come out on top.

Fergal Boylan (Killeavy)

Boylan broke into the Killeavy team last year and has been one of the most eye-catching players in the county ever since. He was in super form for the Armagh U20s earlier in the year and has carried that form into the club campaign and has been a major reason why Killeavy are in the decider.

He is the top scorer for Steven McDonnell’s side throughout the entire campaign with 4-16. Not only that, but Boylan is also currently the top goalscorer in the championship and two of his four majors came in the first half of their semi-final victory over Dromintee the last day out.

He’s not the only scoring threat that Killeavy have in the attacking end of the field, but he is certainly the main one. Whoever the main go-to man-marker in the Cross defence is will likely go toe-to-toe with Boylan and they’ll hope to keep his scoring impact at a minimum.
